As Chairman of the Flying Kukris RFC I would like to welcome you to the website of the premier youth rugby club in the New Territories of the HKSAR. We have a proud tradition, which commenced with the British Forces based in HK, from where our name originated from the helicopters of RAF 28 Squadron – hence the ‘Flying’, and the Ghurkha soldiers – a ‘Kukri’ being a traditional Nepalese knife.
Today we offer rugby training for both boys and girls from age 4 to 19 every Sunday morning. This season (2016 / 2017) we will again be at the Hong Kong Institute of Education Sports Center, directions and transport arrangements can be found on our web site..
The main emphasis should always be fun, to encourage the children to want to come back to rugby every week. You will be surprised and pleased to see how the rugby ethos is quickly picked up by the children as they develop leadership, team spirit and a sense of fair play.
The Flying Kukris is a volunteer club and as such it’s not only the children we want to involve, we encourage parents to take an active part in their children’s rugby by joining the coaching staff (training and courses are available), support staff (team manager, helping coaches, committee positions etc.). You will find, the more involvement you have, the more rewarding the experience for you, and your children.
We are a proudly multi-cultural club with members from all walks of life in Hong Kong. In virtually every age group we have Cantonese speakers on the coaching staff or support staff, so there should be no problem understanding the coaches!
Come and join us and find out why we are such a special club. We are always happy to welcome new members into the Flying Kukris family.
“Run Forward, Pass Backwards and Don’t Forget Your Mouth guard.”
To provide a safe, fun and sporting multi-cultural atmosphere for all Club members
To be the club of choice for rugby players and supporters in the New Territories of the HKSAR.
